West Virginia Gambling law changed

Did you gamble at a West Virginia casino? Good news, unlike the IRS which requires you to itemize, WV losses for gambling in a West Virginia casino are fully deductible up to the amount gained. Michigan has a similar law as well that was passed in 2022.

The difference with the West Virginia law is that it is retroactive to 2020. So if you have some losses you didn’t deduct, you can amend your return.
