Our History and the name "TravelTax"

I grew up in South Carolina and double majored in Respiratory Therapy and Accounting in college. After graduation, I had a choice to work as a nationwide travel temporary in Respiratory Therapy or for a healthcare consulting firm. I chose to travel only after marrying my lifelong travel buddy, Daina, a transplant from Philadelphia.. During our travels, I assisted my co-travelers with their complicated multi-state tax returns while my wife worked with various HR Block outlets. After 3 years of traveling, we settled in the Washington DC suburbs to allow Daina to complete nursing school. I continued to receive referrals and the rest is history . One client mentioned that he was glad that I understood "travel taxes" ... and the name sort of stuck.

Our first assignment was in a small town in northern Minnesota and it was there that Daina and I discovered the kind of place we eventually wanted to call home. Being lifelong east coasters, we wanted a more connected community which has been the trend of the last decade for those leaving large cities. In 2001, after an unsolicited offer to work at an expanding hospital, Daina and I left DC and moved to Norfolk, Nebraska, home of the late comedian, Johnny Carson.

After years of growth, TravelTax serves a substantial number of domestic / international mobile professionals, staffing agencies, Canadian cross border workers, foreign missionaries, businesses and individuals.  As an Enrolled Agent, I represent clients before the IRS, Canada Revenue Agency and state taxing authorities in audits, problem resolutions and pre-litigation. Daina continues to work part time as an ICU nurse and is the tireless "attitude" behind our success.

In keeping with the spirit of the Midwest, TravelTax strives to serve clients with a commitment to honesty, respect and hard work. If you are traveling through Nebraska between engagements, we would love for you to stop by for a visit- we will even take you to lunch!
